Hi, thanks for coming by. Lets have some coffee

Digital Fast Food

Did you ever eat some Fast Food and felt bad afterwards? Like first, you wanted it really bad, you went, got a BigMac Menu, some chicken nuggets and perhaps even an extra cheeseburger? All down in the stomach, you feel full but in that one second while eating (or after or maybe even just while ordering) you were happy. But then, you feel how your body reacts to it after some time. You feel like shit. Tired, sluggish. The poop you have smells terrible. Your skin might get bad (of you do it more regularly). And of course, somehow fast food is not cheap anymore, the craving did cost you 25 dollars. And perhaps, after some time doing these runs to a fastfood joint of your choice, there is some extra weight you notice. You getting a little fat. And of course, after having some fast food, you dont feel like going to the gym or for a run at all, you just want to sleep and recover. I think a lot of people can relate to that. Everyone has done that. Or is doing it. Its fine because it wont kill you right now, it would take so many small occasions like that to really alter your life in a bad way. Perhaps its just making a dent, but noticable. So you can continue with your life.

But what if, we do the same to our brains? Every day, but so much more intense. Not just some fast food here and there, multiple binges a day. Wouldnt you feel absolty terrible if you eat 5k calories a day just from fast food, every day? wasnt there a guy doing a movie about just that, McD all day and he stopped because he got serious health problems within 3 weeks? I think we do the same to our brains with all that online content we watch. Most of it feels like fast food, just something to keep us watching and engaged but nothing of real value. Just like empty calories. And we consume so much of it, every day. Whenever I pull out my phone to look at the Reddit popular page, I say okay, a little smoke break for my brain, just 3 minutes. And then at home it might become 40 minutes, I watch netlfix as well, something what I will forget in two days. It is like fast food for the brain. I feel bad after consuming it. Really, I feel like the world is about to end after looking at reddit. Of course there is value to be found in the online world, I just feel like there is so much more empty calorie content shoved down our brain throat as well that its not really worth it. I feels so much better to create things on your own. It does not matter if it is seen or not. It is for you. Like running. Running is for you and your health. You feel better because of it.
